Welcome to Wildridings Primary School!
Outdoor Learning
At Wildridings, we believe that outdoor learning plays a crucial role in fostering curiosity, creativity, and personal development. Our Outdoor Learning Area provides a rich, engaging environment where children can connect with nature, explore new concepts, and develop important life skills.
Outdoor learning is embedded into our curriculum, offering children the chance to experience learning beyond the classroom in a variety of ways. From problem-solving and teamwork to exploring the natural world and developing physical coordination, our outdoor learning area provides the perfect space for children to apply and extend their knowledge.
Supporting All Learners
We are committed to ensuring that all students, including those with additional needs, benefit from outdoor learning. Through our work with Boxall Profiles, we identify specific needs and provide tailored interventions and support. Whether through 1:1 support, small group activities, or targeted learning experiences, our outdoor learning instructor, Tim Davis, works closely with staff to ensure every child is supported and included.
Tim’s expertise in outdoor education ensures that interventions are carefully planned, supporting the emotional, social, and cognitive development of students who require additional support. The outdoor setting allows us to offer hands-on learning and personalised strategies, helping children to build confidence, resilience, and social skills in a more relaxed and natural environment.
Exciting Developments to Support Larger Classes
Our outdoor learning area is currently undergoing exciting improvements, led by Tim Davis. These changes are designed to allow larger classes to utilise the space more effectively, ensuring that all children, regardless of class size, have access to the enriching experiences that outdoor learning offers. In addition, we are working to timetable outdoor learning into every child’s weekly schedule, ensuring that this vital aspect of their education is a regular and meaningful part of their school experience.
Whether it’s exploring the local environment, developing practical skills, or engaging in collaborative outdoor activities, we are passionate about the positive impact outdoor learning can have on our students’ well-being and academic success.
We look forward to seeing the continued growth of our outdoor learning programme and the many exciting opportunities it will offer for all of our pupils.
