Welcome to Wildridings Primary School!
PSHE & RSHE
Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education
At Wildridings Primary School, we are committed to supporting the well-being and development of every child. PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) lessons equip children with the knowledge, skills, and understanding to live safe, healthy, and fulfilling lives.
Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE)
In line with the UK Primary National Curriculum, we deliver the new Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) objectives, which focus on equipping children with the tools to form healthy relationships, keep themselves safe, and manage their physical and mental well-being. Our RSHE curriculum includes important topics such as:
- Healthy relationships and respecting others
- Different types of families
- Physical and mental health, including understanding emotional and social changes as children grow
- Well-being online and offline and safeguarding, with a focus on internet safety, consent, and emotional resilience.
Learning Methods
PSHE learning at Wildridings takes place through weekly whole class lessons that cover key topics and encourage active discussions and reflections. In Mr Ellis’ Monday assemblies, Golden Values and PSHE learning is highlighted. We also have interventions, which support children with their wellbeing.
We ensure that all lessons are taught in a safe and inclusive environment, where children feel confident to express their views and listen to others.
Celebration
At Wildridings, we celebrate events throughout the year to reinforce our focus on personal well-being, kindness, and community spirit. These include:
- Kindness Week, where we show the children that kindness is infectious. This academic year, we focused on 25 Acts of Kindness.
- Children in Need, supporting charity initiatives and community outreach
- Children’s Mental Health Week, focusing on mental health awareness and self-care
- Road Safety Week, teaching children the importance of keeping safe in their environment
Supporting Families and Children’s Well-being
In addition to our PSHE curriculum, we offer support to families through our Family Support Advisors, who provide guidance and assistance to both children and parents. Our Nurture Room is a safe, welcoming space where children, who may need additional emotional or behavioural support, can receive structured interventions, build confidence, and develop the skills to manage their emotions.
The Nurture Room provides a space for children to receive support, giving them time and attention in a calm, caring environment to then be able to then be ready to learn in the classroom.
If you would like to discuss further the curriculum with our teaching staff, please contact the school office and they will be able to direct your query to the appropriate member of staff. Prior to certain lessons such as puberty, teachers will inform parents of when these lessons will take place.
